In Consensable, the /ask and /debate modes serve different purposes for how your question is processed and presented.
/ask is the default mode. It is designed for general questions where you want a synthesized answer. A multi-AI panel answers your question, and the chair model synthesizes their responses into a single answer that includes key claims and a panel-agreement score. Use this mode when you would typically type a question into a search engine.
/debate frames your question as a structured for-versus-against argument. In this mode, the panel members are assigned to take specific sides, and the chair model acts as an adjudicator to synthesize the arguments presented by both sides.
Both modes are part of the open-ended group of tools available in Consensable and share the same result format.

Credits are how Consensable measures AI usage. Each query consumes credits based on the models used, discussion rounds, and whether web search is enabled.
1 credit = $0.001 AI cost. Credits map directly to real AI model usage costs.
Free credits expire after 1 month. Paid credits last 1 year (monthly plans + top-ups), or 3 years on annual plans. Buy more or upgrade at any time.
You'll always see exactly how many credits a query used and how many you have remaining.
